# Recall

> Recall is the German vocabulary app for English speakers, for iPhone. It combines a German–English dictionary, an AI tutor and spaced repetition, so learners can find new German words, understand them properly and keep them in long-term memory. It is coming soon to the App Store.

## What it does

Recall grows a learner's German vocabulary and makes sure it stays. It works in three steps.

- **Find the word.** Search in German or English. Every meaning comes back with its gender, plural and forms, ranked by how Germans actually use the word, with audio. Ranking reorders meanings but never hides one.
- **Save it in one tap.** The word goes into a Word Bank (a named list, such as "Alltag" or "Arbeit") with real example sentences, its English translation and a review schedule of its own. The learner never writes a flashcard.
- **Make it yours.** Practice happens in real German sentences, in three modes: fill the gap, type the German from the English, or hear the word and pick its meaning. The English translation is always shown.

## The AI tutor

Recall includes an AI tutor that answers questions about German in plain English. Before it answers, it looks words up in Recall's German–English dictionary, and it gives real example sentences with translations. Typical questions:

- The difference between two similar words, such as *kennen* and *wissen*, or *erfahren* and *erleben*.
- Whether a sentence the learner wrote sounds natural, and what a native speaker would say instead.
- Why an answer in practice was wrong. The tutor opens from inside a practice session with the sentence already in front of it.

## Why it works

- Recall uses spaced repetition, one of the most proven methods in learning science. Each time a word is recalled from memory it becomes harder to forget, and the gaps between reviews grow as it sticks: days, then weeks, then months.
- Recall tracks how well the learner knows every single word and schedules each one individually. Its target is a 90% or better chance that the learner knows a word when they need it.

## How it feels

- One ring on the Home screen holds every word due today. Closing it finishes the day.
- Every word climbs through five stages, from New to Mastered, and the learner can see how strong each one is.
- Every review earns points, right or wrong, and the learner's rank only goes up.
- A wrong answer is corrected, never punished: no red, no buzzer, and no streak to lose.
